The beauty of the Harp...

Go to this page:

Geoff has a friend who plays Celtic music on the harp. She was playing tonight at the Capitol Highway Coffee house and he invited me along, so along I went....

The Brothers Norman, in all their glory..

Aaron attempting to look cool, and me with my wine.

Ariel has a beautiful voice and is incredibly talented.
Not only does she play the harp,

but she also plays the guitar,

This pic is sorta blurry, but it was the only one I managed to get with her eyes open, and its still pretty!

and some sort of drum.

Someone who plays that kind of music, you would automatically expect them to be a certain way... Ariel is so not like that.. She's a really cool person, and a total geek! (That's a compliment, coming from me... cuz I love geeky people. I too, am a geek. :)

We started teasing her and making dorky comments just to see if we could mess her up by making her laugh.

New MEATing spot...

To continue our debauchery of what we affectionately call "Meet for Meat", schedules made it impossible to do it on Wednesday. So instead of our usual Wednesday night "meating" we decided to go to the Acropolis for better meat and some not so plastic meat in the other form.

Food was cheap and excellent, and um.. so was the company?! Just kidding!!

Actually, it was really great. Geoff, Rob, Justin myself and Josh all gathered and ate our yummy steaks and while talking Justin said he needed to go pass out some CD's for his upcomming show. We all agreed to go with, help out and hang out.

We ended up going to Holoscene. I'd never been there before and it was a pretty cool place. When we arrived, we discovered that the bartender was quite generous with his drinks, and the music selection was pretty damn good too.

There were several little alcoves and places to chill or stand and watch the bands. We walked into the main room where the band was playing and quickly assimilated into the zombie like ambiance in the room. Everyone seemed totally mesmerized by the band onstage.. a band from Oslo, Norway called 120 Days. I really liked them.

I liked them even more after I met them. They were fun. They had lots of fun talking with Josh, because he too is from Norway.

After that, another band came on, and I feel terrible because I can't remember their name. Blame the drinks... they were really strong! The thing I found amusing is that their guitarist and Josh could have been related!

I was also busy buzzing around the club trying to promote the upcomming Son of Rust show, and managed to pass out every one of the CD's that Justin gave me. He was pretty happy about that... so much so that he decided to take me out to dinner later that week. :P

After the show, it was a very cold walk back to the car. So cold, that Geoff peed icecubes!

UNcomfortably numb...

Today at work I had two very interesting things happen. It was really proven to me that we actually do treat just about anything. Today we had a goat in our clinic.

Later that day, I almost lost my finger. The parrot on my shoulder seemed alright, as far as birds go... until we tried to cut her nails. At which point, she wasn't having any of that, and made a pretty decent attempt at taking my finger off. O-F-F- !!!

The wound was deep and bled for hours. I think there is some definate nerve damage as well, because it's been pins and needles all the way down that finger ever since. Fucking Parrot!

Old Satryicon a far cry...

I was really excited to hear that they re-opened Satyricon. It was one of those places where a lot of the bands I like got their start sorta. It was a really great place back in the day, and then it closed down.

When I heard they were re-opening it and my friends Son of Rust were going to play there, I was stoked.

They weren't going on till 11 ish, so after work I headed down there and everyone was hanging out at Tiger Bar. For some reason, every time I took a picture I managed to catch everyone giving me a dirty look.. so it became the theme.
I submit.. dirty looks.. or attempts at dirty looks.

Jason's creative nature struck again, and he presented Justin with another present.
Eldon tried to steal Justin's drink...
Justin wasn't having it.

When it was time to go, Melissa had just ordered a drink. Naturally we made her chug it.

Unfortunately, the new ownership did nothing to make this place what it was, and the bands that played before Son of Rust were so absolutely terrible that anyone who wasn't there to see them specifically were driven away by the sheer awefulness.

They didn't have a liquor license, but they had old school video games!

Regardless that it was just their friends, Son of Rust put on a great show. They played all their new songs, which made me very happy. Especially when they did "To Be Free". It was so emotion-filled, Justin even sat down during one part of the song and it was just fantastic.

After the show, we all converged on Embers.

It was 80's music and lots of fun. Even got several people up in the cage!
Melissa's brother..
Eldon..
Geoff..
Myself..

Tried to get others, but they refused. I did however get Josh to come out on the dance floor. Josh doesn't dance. But we got him to!

The last song played before we left was the Numa Numa song!
Justin says, "Hey that last song was kinda cool."
Me:"You've never heard that song before?"
Justin: "No, why?"
Josh and I look at each other in amazement.
Josh: "You haven't seen the Numa Numa video? And you call yourself a computer nerd!"

So when we took Justin home, it was imperative that we introduce him to the video in question.
And then we stayed to play some pool. Well, Justin and Josh played pool.. I attempted, very badly, till 4 am.
