Luxating Patella anyone?

This morning started like any other day, I got out of bed, Wesley jumped off the bed, and I picked up Rikka and put her on the floor and prepared to take them outside to go to the bathroom.

I put Wesley's leash on and Rikka followed out the door. I noticed she was walking a little funny, so when she came in I watched her a little closer. She was favoring her left rear leg. She wouldn't put any weight on it at all. I felt it and stretched it, and she didn't flinch or cry, so I assumed maybe she slept on it wrong and it was asleep or something.

I took her to work with me today, and she hobbled a little bit when we first got there, and then soon she was running around excited greeting the other dogs and people just like she normally does. Ok, probably just asleep or sore, no biggie.

She was with me ALL day. She walked around just fine. Then came time for my class at 6. I put her in a small kennel with a comfy bed inside so she could rest out of the way while I taught class. After class was over, everyone wanted to see her and her pink hair. I took her out of the kennel, and she refused to walk on EITHER back leg. She was literally doing a handstand while trying to walk, and she was shaking.

Needless to say, this freaked me out. I took her straight over to the vet hospital in the store. They checked her out and were able to manipulate her legs so that I actually heard and saw her knee pop back into place. Apparently not one, but both knees pop out of place!

The vet couldn't be sure that's exactly what it is, but based on the popping she was pretty sure that's whats causing her lameness. She took a couple X-rays but because they were just about to close, she couldn't do a complete diagnosis of the x-rays until tomorrow. So for now, she's on Rimadyl for the pain until they can give me a full diagnosis and treatment options tomorrow.

So basically I just blew $300 at the Vet and she's no closer to being any better, she's just not feeling as much pain. More on this fun turn of events tomorrow.

If that's what it is, and both her knees are bad, my options are thousands of dollars worth of knee surgeries to make the groove in her bones larger so the kneecap won't move anymore, or perhaps a doggie wheelchair.... and I don't want to think about the other "option".
