Mud Puppy / How to Dye Your Dog, a pictorial

I decided to take Wesley out to play since we did absolutely nothing yesterday but recover from the day before. I honestly don't think I left the couch except to get food and take my dogs out to go to the bathroom.

I walked over to the park across the street from Eldon's place to let Wesley run and play fetch with him for a bit. I didn't realize till I got there that the whole park was a mud puddle! It was too late to stop him. He was already off and running, splashing mud everywhere as he ran.

So, I played fetch with him for a while, doing everything in my power to have him stop a foot or so before he got to me so I wouldn't end up as muddy as he was. The best part was when he got tired, because then he found a nice big puddle to lay down in!

When we were done, I spent the walk back trying to figure out how I was going to get him clean so he didn't track mud all throughout Eldon's place. I found a towel in the trunk of my car and dried off his muddy paws and legs and then marched him directly up the stairs to the shower.

AfterWesley's bath, I was sitting on the couch talking to Warren who was playing with Rikka's hair. He said something about how cool it would be to dye her hair. I had been thinking about it for a while, and knew exactly what I could use that wouldn't hurt her skin or eyes or permanantly damage her hair. Good ole Kool-Aid. It was a fiasco. Half way through we figured out that we should probably do something to protect her skin from getting dyed. Would have been a good idea to think about that BEFORE she was covered in Kool-Aid, but ya know... hindsight.
I teased the guys that I couldn't believe that a house full of bachelors had no Vaseline. To which Warren responded, "That's WHY we don't have any!" After some searching, Eldon suggested I use lube! It worked great.. HER skin didn't turn colors.... Mine and my partner in crime however, didn't get so lucky. We were caught, red handed, torturing my poor dog. It really looks and sounds worse than it is. I would never do anything to harm my dogs.. dress them up, dye their hair, paint their nails, make them do "humiliating" tricks like the old treat on the nose, but they are never being put through stress or harm. I even made sure Rikka was handling it ok by offering her some cheese while she was soaking in the kool-aid. (Dogs won't eat if they are really stressed out or really excited.) She ate the cheese just fine.
