Still partially deaf...

Much to my annoyance, I only had to work for an hour today. To most people that sounds great, but to me it means they're going to try to make me give up having Sundays off, meaning I won't have ANY weekend days off anymore. I love my job, but it's not my life and if that happens I might just have to quit find a job that pays better but makes me miserable. The only reason I stay is because I like it, it certainly isn't for the pay, and if I'm going to be unhappy at my job, I might as well be being paid for it.

So after my incredibly long day at work, I went down to Tonic Lounge to see Son of Rust. I invited my new Myspace friend Casey to meet me down there, since we share a lot of the same tastes in music. He genuinely seemed impressed, even bought their CD.

I donned my cheer leader look, complete with pigtails to cheer on Warren at his first performance with them. It was a completely new show with him. I knew Warren was an incredible drummer, he's always drumming on something, and he works teaching high school drumlines, but I'd never actually seen him play actual drums in my presence. I was NOT disappointed. He however, beat himself up about it. Looking back through the pictures he doesn't look as relaxed or like he's having much fun. The sound being messed up in his headphones irritated him, because if the drummer messes up it throws off everything else. I still think he did a great job, especially since he could barely hear anything.

They had a lot of technical difficulties, mostly due to the crappiest sound guy I'd ever seen. He did something right before they started that nearly deafened all 10 of us in the bar. Yeah, there wasn't a lot of people there, but I think the guys are glad about that considering all the sound issues they had. Despite the incompetence of sound guy, they rocked! Even the songs I've heard a million times sounded different and had more energy, although a lot of them seemed slowed down a bit from what I was used to hearing. Don't get me wrong, they were great before, Warren just made them better by bringing his incredible talent and energetic charisma to the stage. The sky's the limit now, boys!

Hopefully they won't have issues this Friday. If you're reading this and you can come out Friday, please do... They could use all the love and support you can give them when they compete at Emergenza, this Friday night at Ash St. I'll be there screaming my head off for sure. I can't wait!

Justin would make a great televangelist

Ben's a screamer

Warren concetrating to hear (stupid sound guy!)

The NEW Son of Rust

Justin gets a kick out of having Warren with them.

We loved having you there for the show, Brandy, and your description of the festivities was awesome. I'm sorry Warren looked pissed - he'll be smiling when we win Emergenza tomorrow. :P

I'll be there! Just promise to play Scream for me and I'll be happy. You're really not going to have your screens up?
