Another houseguest...
What happens when you don't spend enough time with your dog? They get a little... destructive. This WAS my brand new bikini that I wore only a couple times on my trip to Arizona. :( Wesley decided to eat it as a way to show me that he wasn't getting enough attention and excersize.
I did manage to find some time to puppy sit Bobbie Socks the cocker spaniel / poodle mix, (I hate the "designer dog" names.. but she would be called a "cockapoo".) She's a fun little dog. The coolest part about her is also the biggest issue I've had with her since I took her in. She's litter box trained.
You might be thinking.. how cool is that? Don't have to worry about those long work days, cuz she won't suffer without a place to relieve herself. Yeah, except that she also likes to play in it! I've had to clean my bathroom every day just so I can take a shower without being coated in kitty litter. :(
So, little girl got a bath... She wasn't very happy about it, but she tolerated it. And I appreciated not having kitty litter in my bed when she slept in it. She's a very sweet girl, and very obedient. I managed to get a daily walk in with her and Wesley, and she walked very politely. My only issue the whole time was the kitty litter thing, and that she really liked to bark. A lot. I'm sure my neighbors were glad when she left.
She also got to meet Sebastian. He didn't like her as much as he tolerated Bronson... but it's good for him to deal with dogs. He needs to know that dogs aren't going to hurt him.. at least not the dogs I introduce him to. It's also good for the dogs to be around cats and learn that chasing them is not the best idea. Submitting to them is the best thing for both animals.
I made it to the dog park with them for an hour between jobs as well. Wesley thorougly enjoyed that, as he got to play with yet another weimaraner that I had yet to meet in the area. Gertie was a playful 11 month old female.
Bobbie Socks had fun playing with the other dogs, and just rolling around in the grass. Her family is still in Tennessee, but a family friend picked her up on Tuesday night. I was grateful to go back to just taking care of my Wesley dog. It gave me time to get him checked out. One of the perks at my new job is that I get all vet services at cost. This made getting his OFA certification testing done. I don't have the official results back from them yet, but the owner of the practice says his hips look great, and that he will probably get either an excellent or good rating! This makes me very happy. It means he's VERY unlikely to have displastic hips when he gets older, and he won't pass on bad hips to any litters he sires! This makes him a good stud, and it means I will be on the lookout for the mom of his litter.
I'm hoping that this will be her. Her name is Gracie. She's just as calm as Wesley, and her family wants her to have one litter before they spay her. She's scheduled to go into heat sometime in October, which means puppies for Christmas!
