Ahh the beach trip!
Eldon and I met a year ago, right after he had come back from his annual beach trip. Jesse's family has a gorgeous beach house right on the California/Oregon border near Crescent City, CA ON the beach, and every year for about 6 years now they have had the annual beach trip. 4 days of 20 somethings running around on the beach acting like 12 year olds.
I'd been hearing about it for a year and couldn't wait to go.
So after work Thursday, me, Eldon and Wesley packed up and headed down. We were originally supposed to caravan down, but everyone's schedules being different made that too difficult.
We met up with Jesse and Ildiko in Grant's Pass to make the rest of the trip down. It took about 6 hours to get there.
We arrived late, and got settled in. We exchanged pleasantries and then everyone sorta passed out. The next morning, I was able to really take the place in....
You could see the ocean while sitting in the hot tub!
All told there were 14 of us, and we all had beds to sleep in.
Wesley, me, Eldon Warren, Chad, Abby, Jesse, David, Brie, Troy, Anna, Ildiko, Eli (Juliana is behind Eli I think, and Fawna came later.)
Although Abby and Warren decided to pitch a tent and sleep listening to the sounds of the ocean.
He ran, he dug, he sat with me by the fire, he pointed vultures, wanted to chase them, but decided against it when he realized just how big those birds were. He found some friends, got wiped out by some waves... And he had so much fun that by the end of the trip he was just wiped out!
Warren and Eldon had to restock their bar, so there was a very substantial liquor run.
Which of course meant to return our bodies to a normal temperature we had to proceed directly into the hot tub again.
There was always LOTS of cooking going on. We had fantastic breakfast and dinners every day. It was just exactly what I needed after the month of July stressing me to near insanity.
I had a great time and I'm so fortunate to have good friends. Especially good friends with access to a ridiculous beach house on the ocean!

You know this is one of those annual events that you'll all still be going to when you're 50. Although, by that time, tractor guy will be looking the other way.
;)
Hah! We were having that discussion at the beach trip. Since everyone is getting older etc, we were having the debate as to whether we leave the (future) kids at home or not.
